Herman Lensing emailed this article from the May 6th, 1961 issue of the Melrose Beacon.

“Plan Little Baseball League Organization”

“A meeting will be held at Stan’s recreation room at Greenwald this Thursday evening, May 11, at 8 o’clock for the purose of organizing a little baseball league for younger age players.”

“Towns which have expressed interest in such a circuit are Lake Henry, Elrosa, Spring Hill, Greenwald, New Munich, and Meire Grove.”

“All who may desire to aid in the promotion of this project are invited to the Greenwald meeting.”

Herman also emailed the results of this meeting from the May 14th, 1961 issue of the Melrose Beacon.

“Organize Little Dipper League”

“The Little Dipper baseball league was organized at a meeting held at Greenwald last Thursday.  Represented in the league will be boy teams from Elrosa, Lake Henry, Spring Hill, Meire Grove, New Munich and Greenwald.”

“The league will open its playing schedule on May 31.  Seven-inning games will be played on Wednesday evenings starting at 7 o’clock.  The players will be grade school age or up to 15 years.”

“Al Brang of Meire Grove was elected president of the new league, with Clarence Kampsen of Elrosa, secretary and treasurer.”

“The following managers will serve on the board of directors:  Cel Uphoff, Greenwald; Werner Schneider, Meire Grove; Herman Brickweg, New Munich; Herman Kampsen, Elrosa; Art Loehr, of Spring Hill; and Sallie Ludwig of Lake Henry.”
